What's up with AI?

It seems like everyone says AI all day every day. Let's dive into some quick, easy to digest basics that can propel you into this new technology.
The key to understanding AI from a user level is to try it out! Arguably the most popular site to do this is with ChatGPT. You can use GPT-3.5 for free.
Next time you need to write an article, create a post, construct and email, or get the right syntax for a line of code, consider asking ChatGPT a question - in AI lingo we call it a "prompt". Prompts are useful for giving the chat bot a clear understanding of what you are looking for. Many entrepreneurs as well as well-established companies are selling prompt packages with pre-written prompts to help serve as a springboard. As a marketing agency, we explore a lot of the marketing options to see what others are doing in our space.
If you like what you see in text, they also offer an affordable paid subscription that will unlock additional benefits, called ChatGPT 4. DALL-E, for example, includes GPT's that generate images like the one you see above. We used the prompt "create an image that someone would expect you to create" in image generator and the result was the image, with the caption below it. We have also tried creating logos with DALL-E and had mixed results. Here is an example.
Prompt:
create a png logo with no background for The Vie Group, acronym TVG, that uses a mid-century modern vibe and has a star and contains variations of the color teal.
Result:

It's actually pretty close to the logo we created when we started our business, but as you can see, it does contain a background, and doesn't include the TVG acronym. So, great for ideas, but execution would've still been done by us.
Another common appearance of AI is within products you may already use. For example, the popular online graphic design tool Canva has it's own branded "Magic Studio" that can help you generate your ideas without using templates, for more original content creation.
TL;DR Is it perfect? Certainly not. Does it help get those creative juices flowing? Definitely!
No matter your industry, leveraging tools like this can help you find ideas, articulate them more quickly, make them into images and ultimately save you time. It is important to remember that originality of ideas is still important. Utilizing these tools to "fake" industry knowledge can be dangerous in the long run for you and for your clients.
At TVG our goal is to unlock options for small busineses with limited time and/or resources. Reach out if you have questions, we are always here to help you navigate new tech!
*In case you're an acronym stickler, the full name for Chat GPT is Generative Pre-trained Transformer. If you ask the chat, it will tell you even more about what that means, and we encourage you to check it out!
